Well, as I mentioned my name is Katie and I decided to start this blog to not only show people that healthy changes don't have to happen rapidly and all at once or not at all, but also to open the door to empowering yourself to take charge of your own health.
Topics may range from why you should eat coconut oil, to how to make your own deodorant or household cleaning products. I won't commit to just healthy diet choices because quite honestly, my mind tends to bounce around a little bit! And when I'm passionate about something, like I am this stuff, I tend to get really excited about things and end up of the verge of bursting if I don't tell someone soon! I promise not to ping pong to multiple subjects in the same post, but I can't promise not to want to!
Getting into a little more about me, I am a WI native, I love horses, camping, and will be trying my hand at gardening this year for the first time! Don't let this fool you though, I am not a super hard core outdoorsy hiker or anything like that. I grew up on a farm and was being held up on horseback before I could sit up or walk on my own. From there my love for horses took off like wild fire, and I began showing when I was 10. I kept showing right up until about 4 years ago (we won't say how many years that was...) when I decided to take some time off from the show ring. I love horses, I love riding, and I love everything that it's taught me over the years. If you don't have patience, then horses aren't for you! But on a serious note, horses are truly amazing creatures and there's just "something about the outside of a horse, that's good for the inside of a man"-Winston Churchill.
Like I said I love camping, which is also something I've done since I was actually only a couple weeks old apparently. There's actual photographical proof of this in a photo of my halter top and bandana clad mother breast feeding me at the campfire. Growing up we were always either camping or at a horse show, and we still camp all summer long. My boyfriend and I have our little pop-up home on wheels and we somehow manage to fit our 2 large dogs in there and head on down the road.
Speaking of dogs, those are our 4 legged fur babies. We have a black lab, Allie, and an English Mastiff, Mya. We also have our cat Zeke, who gets tormented daily by said Mastiff. Between the 3 of them they keep us entertained, and they keep us pretty busy between sweeping up their hair or picking up mangled toy parts. Yes, our dogs are toy murderers!
I became curious about natural healthy living a year or two ago, and have been dancing on the surface of it all ever since. There is a TON to learn and a lot of information out there! I was kind of skeptical at first, I'm not going to lie. But then I started paying a little more attention and doing a little more research and it all began to make more sense. Then I started reading posts and articles and findings about things like what's contained in my makeup, or what they use to make household cleaners and their side effects and holy cow! So I started paying more attention to things like that, then I started sharing it with my parents, my sister, my friends, heck whoever would listen I just had to spread the word!
